Yizkor יזכור
It is the custom of Ashkenazic Jews to recite the memorial prayer of Yizkor after the Torah reading on Yom Kippur, on the last day of Pesach and Shavuot, and on Shemini Atzeret (immediately following Sukkot). In this prayer we ask God to remember the souls of our departed parents and/or other loved ones, to grant them a beautiful eternal rest and to bring them ever closer to Him in His most exalted place. As part of the Yizkor prayer, we pledge to give charity in honor of the deceased. This is an important step that brings additional merit to the soul of the departed.

Diskin’s staff invest themselves heart and soul throughout the year to give orphans and needy children life-giving, nurturing love, care and support. When a family needs someone to recite the Yizkor prayer on behalf of relatives who have left this world, it is certainly most appropriate to have those dedicated people who staff Diskin perform these tasks. They are totally devoted to supporting and building new lives for orphans who have no one else to turn to. This special prayer will be rendered even more powerful through the strength of their merits.
